In this paper, for the characters of China's solar energy resources and coal-fired units distribution, new ways are found to deeply tap the potential of energy conservation of the coal-fired generating units outside by researching on the solar assisted coal-fired electric power generation systems, It is not only for the purpose of achieving energy conservation and protecting the environment, but also for establishing a new way to large-scale use of solar energy. Based on the framework of coal-fired unit, solar energy was rationally integrated to it as a heat utilization system. Based on the derived solar collector thermal efficiency and exergy efficiency fomulars, the N125MW-135/550/550 unit was made an example to establish of programs of solar-assisted coal-fired power units and made an analysis and comparison to the economic indicators of generating unit in the original working condition and assisted operating conditions. Then a mathematical model of solar collector field was set up and the model was procedured. It may realize real-time solar radiation simulation and solar collector field optimization. In this paper, some studies may provide some reference on the solar energy assisted coal-fired electric power generation systems.
