| Small towns are playing extremely roles in relieving the pressure of urbanization, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas and so on. As the rapid growth of urbanization, towns in north China are developing faster and faster. However, the stage of development is still primary in meeting occupancy and the vitality of center spaces have not been pay enough attention. This paper makes research on the vitality of center spaces in north China towns, compositing the economy, geography and humanities of north China towns and referencing to the excellent experiences of south China towns which belong to the coastal areas.The paper starts from the spatial layout of the towns in north China, analyzed the northern small towns widespread two spatial structure, and it compared and analyzed the spatial structure of the small town intensive district in south coastal. And it pointed out the suitable layout that can generate the energy. The paper further analyzes the relationship of the function and the energy of the town. And discussed the methods of promote the town energy in the transport structure of small towns, the function layout of the central area, and the intensive use of land in center district etc. Then, according to the lack of the open space, the paper analyzed and pointed out some planning and design methods in the field of the green land, the square, the building facade and the facilities.Compositing the geography, economy and humanities of north China towns and referencing to the excellent experiences of south China towns which belong to the coastal areas, this paper combined the analysis of the spatial layout and the functional layout of the small towns in north china, proposes a method in increasing the vitality of center spaces in north China towns. At last, the paper applied these methods through the design of the two town examples in north china. |
