With the rapid development of modern electronic industry and the popularity of electrical products, the electromagnetic energy density becomes higher gradually and the electromagnetic pollution is becoming more and more serious. The influence of electromagnetic radiation on human and other devices has become a focus of research. The development of the electromagnetic radiation measuring instruments with high quality, low cost and durability is of significant priority.The basic principles of electromagnetic radiation and the basic methods of the electromagnetic measurement are analyzed, and the solution of intelligent electric field probe communication interface based on the C8051F320 microcontroller and AD7714 is introduced in this paper. The solution is divided into two parts, the communication interface between the MCU and the upper computer, and the communication interface between the AD and the MCU. The hardware solution is completed by choosing proper chips and electric circuits based on the comparison and analysis of associate chips. In the software solution, the communication between the upper computer and the MCU is based on UART of the MCU, while the communication between the AD and the MCU is based on SPI. So the AD, the MCU and the upper computer is able to communicate with each other.The functions of the system are tested when the development of software and the hardware is finished. The tests involve data transmission and command transmission between the upper computer and the MCU. Experimental result shows the accuracy of the data transmission and the command transmission, which lays the foundation for the development of intelligent electric field probe in the next step.
