Jack-up well work-over platforms requiring high technologies must be equipped with large work-over equipments and special electric equipments to work well. The total power of the generators chosen by load calculation are increased, because of the increasing number of electrical equipments. So, the safety and reliable operation of the power system is raised to unprecedented heights. Therefore, the rationality, practicability and the degree of standardization of the technology performance is very important.The Electrical System Design and Application of the Jack-up work-over platform attract more and more attentions. The project information in this paper comes from a real jack-up work-over platform. This paper describes the research status in and out of the broad, analyzes the characteristics of the power system, power network configuration, power plant design, short circuit current calculation, power system tray selection in the work-over platform. The system mode is constructed, Then the simulation can be carried on by EDSA used in marine area. The analysis of short-circuit, load flow calculation and the voltage adjustment analysis can be worked out by incoming the dates and drawings into EDSA. The power system design and short-circuit calculation can be demonstrated by the result of simulation and the real platform. The motor VFD systems in this project is a high technology, Only some big company can produced in the world.The paper relies on a real platform to research and develop the key technology, such as the design and calculation of the power system, programming the control and monitoring process. It can develop the domestic large Jack-up Work-over Platform. The paper also can provide technical support to choose the devices and determine the power system and power distribution.
