Study On Bambooscape Planning And Design

Plants are essential elements in Landscape Architecture. More over, bamboo is one of the most unique landscape plants. Because of its wide distribution, rich species, it's frequently used in landscape architecture. This thesis focuses on the design methodology of bambooscape (bamboo landscape) from site selection, artistic conceptual plan, and layout and detail design based on bamboo's biological, cultural, aesthetic and spatial characteristics with abundant case studies.In site selection, how to make the bambooscape design based on the respect for natural environmental and cultural heritage and the natural growth, space, function and landscaping of bamboo is proposed. Artistic conceptual plan concentrates in structure and characters of bambooscape conception, and how nature and culture act on building landscape architectural artistic ambience. The part of layout mainly discusses how to make the landscape appropriate from the spatial composition, visual approaches, sequences and functional usages of bambooscape. The detail design covers the color, texture, pavement and ornaments in bambooscape, and the integration between bamboo and other landscape elements.Based the research above, the recommendations of bambooscape design principals and design guidelines are made.
