The Research On "Bamboo-Tectonics" Landscape Architecture

The research work of ecological design is based not only on the renovation of the design principles and design methods, but also on the every key point during the whole design process. We should not only confine the study on the physical property of the materials, but the study on their design property is more important! Bamboo, as an excellent Eco-material, is more studied on its physical and chemical property than its design application. This paper is established on the ways of using design to improve such a kind of Eco-material. Besides, with respect to the property of bamboo and the trend of its mass usage in the landscape architecture, this paper focuses the study on the landscape architecture aspects.With the analysis of improved values by the design with bamboo and significant of the principles of Eco-design, the paper studied the process of the design with bamboo material, and did further research works on the bamboo structure, bamboo node and bamboo skin, at the instance of the landscape architecture design in Fujian Yongan Tianbaoyan Tourism area. Then with the consideration of the design essence, the paper borrowed the concept —"Bamboo-tectonics" to interpret the constructional principles of bamboo in its self-logic. The paper provides some practical design methods and design principles, in order to seek the significance of the bamboo-tectonics.
