| In this paper, models of staggered truss system were established to analyse the influence of different chord-column joints and column foot connections on structural behaviors. Static analysis, second-order effects and nonlinear static push-over analysis were carried out to study the aforementioned influences, meanly by internal force and structural displacement analysis. By the way, methods of connection design and column efective length wre also studied.Analysis results indicate that column moment is affected by different chord–to-column connections, but column moment is so small that such influence can be ignored, structural displacement and second-order effects are not notably affected; the shear force value of chord-column rigid joint is higher than hinged joint, and the rigid joint also has to bear moment, however, because of moment stress is neglectable comparing to axial stress, and rigid joint also has chord flange connection to bear most axial force, so the distribution of rigid joint is more reasonable than hinged one.Based on the above study, design recommendations are given as below: hinged column foot connection can be used for low-rise buildings, but fixed column foot connection must be used for high-rise buildings; adopting rigid joint as chord-to-column connection is more reasonable, but its can be calculated as hinged joint. |
