Distribution system is an important part in electrical system, lies in the end of the power system. Distribution system contacts directly with the consumers by supplying and allocating the power. The malfunction or checking of power equipments would result the cut of power supplying. The distribution system has complex network structures, various forms and multiple running ways, so it is a weak part in electrical system. So distribution system reliability is an important work to satisfy consumers' request of power reliability. However, with power system becoming enormous and complex, the modeling and calculation of distribution network become more difficult. Thus how to put precision and calculating quantity on balance and how to find fast and effective algorithm are the problems that need research farther. Considering this, by the research on reliability evaluation algorithm of distribution network, a network topology algorithm was approved in this paper. And a reliability evaluation system of distribution network was developed by the software of MATLAB.Base on the comprehensive reading of references about distribution system reliability, the paper compares several reliability evaluation methods. The paper proposes a method for reliability assessment of distribution system which takes many real factors into consideration, and then opens the programs by MATLBA. Then we run the IEEE RBTS-4 system with this program. Analyze several factors which affect distribution system based on the result. The running circumstances attest the system have strong expansibility, flexible maneuverability, friendly interface and strong ability of man-machine interaction. The system can provide effective reliability index for the run and layout of power system, can offer adequate grounds for the layout and decision-making and have practical value.
