The vibration of the ship typical equipment diesel engine is the main factor that influents the ship acoustic signature, its vibration control work is one of the important aspects of the ship acoustic control. This essay researches the engineering description method of the equipments vibration characteristic, analyzes the main influential factor of the diesel engine's vibration characteristic, sets up the engineering estimate formula of the diesel engine's vibration characteristic.Firstly, mechanism research has been carried out on the equipments vibration, combined with the engineering demand, the free velocity was selected as the equipments vibration characteristic description parameter and the machine feet free acceleration was selected as the equipments engineering description parameter. Then a experiment was designed and executed to study the equipments vibration characteristic under the various dissimilarity install condition (under different work condition with various parameter matching), so the install condition for equipments vibration characteristic engineering description was determined. Some diesel engine trial data was also studied to analyze the install condition's influence on its vibration characteristic, and the installation condition for its vibration characteristic was determined. In addition, study has been done on the parameter, condition, system, outline and procedure of the vibration characteristic measurement, and a viable engineering measurement method was provided.Secondly, study has been done on m the vibration source characteristic and delivered characteristic and responded characteristic to determine the diesel engine vibration related factor. Then from the diesel engine vibration source analysis, the elementary vibration characteristic influential factor was acquired. Since the vibration characteristic is same with the noise characteristic in origin, so by using the diesel engine noise characteristic for reference, the main influential factor of diesel engine vibration characteristic was determined. Some diesel engine trial data was also studied to analyze the main influential factor on its vibration characteristic.Finally, based on the study of the diesel engine vibration source characteristic, the delivery characteristic, and the influential factor analysis, a engineering estimation formula frame of the china-made diesel engine vibration characteristic was set up. Then a back to return analysis was carried out with the actually measurement vibration data, using the Gauss-Newton method. A estimation formula was hence gained, which has certain accuracy. Verification was done by comparing the estimation value with the trial data .The estimation value is always similarly with the trial data, which has applied value for the Ship acoustic design.
