After decades' operation, the substructure of bridges through reinforcement and reconstruction working together with new superstructure is brand-new subject. This dissertation presents the importance and feasibility of substructure reutilization from the aspects of engineering technology including reinforcement, examination, experiment and economic.Firstly, the common defects and their causes of superstructure are introduced in this paper; the check and assessment methods on substructure including general check and particular assessment. The technological project of western communication construction----nondestructive assessment by rare earth transducer and system integration is emphasized. Also, the common substructure remedies are particularized, such as pasting steel plates and compound fibre material to reinforce the weak components, extending the cantilever end of cap beam to rebuild.Secondly, taking Didu II bridge's reconstruction of Jingyang road in Hebei province as background, this paper introduces its successive construction case by blasting the superstructure and remaining the substructure.Thirdly, the dissertation figures out the economic appraisal of substructure reutilization, and represents the economic analysis of it from both macro and micro aspects. Through the economic analysis of Didu II bridge', it further show the economic sensibility and significance of substructure reutilization.Finally, the dissertation presents the feasibility of substructure reinforcement and reutilization, and lists some suggestions.
