Study On Early Water Damage Of Saphalt Pavements In SHANDONG Province And Preventive Countermeasures

Semi-rigid base asphalt pavement is used widely in high-grade highway which have been built completely and opened to traffic in SHANDONG province at present. In recent years, along with the increasing of traffic volume and axial loads, some early damage such as crack, deformation,surface damage and water damage etc.occurred on the asphalt pavements in two years' operation period. As a common damage style, water damage seriously influences on pavement quality. So,it is of important significance to study the causes and preventive Countermeasures of early water damage of asphalt pavement. On the basis of investigating in an all-round way and analyzing synthetically to SHANDONG asphalt pavement, this paper analyzes on the causes and development mechanism of the early water damage from material, pavement structure and construction technology etc.. The measures to prevent early water damage of asphalt pavement have been put forword in this paper. The results implied that the moisture resistance can be improved markedly to lengthen life by adding anti-stripping agent, optimizing grading and structural composition design, controlling air void and construction quality.
