The public square is an important part of urban space.It is the most vital and artistic place in our daily lives. however , the quality of city public squares are falling away, the lost of compatibility especially, with the rapid development of the economy and the process of urbanization.This paper analyzes the development of public squares,by studing the spatial characteristics from material and immaterial levels.It analyzes people's mental needs and features who are in the square by ecopsychology and behavioral science,and fund out the sprit of the place of public squares with phenonmenology.Then obtain the Influencing Factors of material and immaterial levels.And then we can offer the Strategies to buiding the compatibility on the examples.
