Recent years, with motor vehicles increasing, the transportation question has already become one of the serious problems in Nanchang. A lot of practices both in native and abroad have proved that the solution for urban transport problems which only depended on the development of basic road infrastructure is ineffective. Besides the support coming from the marco-policy of transportation, the modern management of transportation also plays a very important role. With the development of computer science and geographical information science, Geographical Information System has been used widely for its powerful spatial analysis function. ITS which is based on Geographical Information System is the trend of transportation in the future. Intelligent transportation information system contains the city traffic database, city GIS database, city road database. At present Nanchang does not have a perfect Intelligent Transportation System to supply real-time and effective information for the superintendent and the users.To the current situation of Nanchang's ITS, on the base of systems analysis GIS technology, in this paper, I applied MapInfo, the professional soft ware tool of GIS, integrated secondary exploiture combining with electronic maps of Nanchang, and made use of the exploiture flat roof Visual C++ as the tool of visualize development, transferred MapX, a control of MapInfo, integrated them. I designed the Inquiry System in Intelligent Transportation of Nanchang, which including query system of road information, query system of bus information, query system of district information. It can carried out space analysis and query function based on GIS. Adopted SQL Server manage attribute data, by data binding, attribute data in SQL Server and victor picture data were combined.This paper mainly proposed collectivity frame, did Demand analysis of the inquiry system in Intelligent Transportation System of Nanchang and designed the inquiry system First I Analyzed the assumption diagram of the system and chose the development environment and then accomplished the programming work of each module. After the inquiry system in Intelligent Transportation System of Nanchang establishing, it may provide the real-time transportation data and the traffic condition for concerned department and provide the convenience operation and the highly effective data management service for the users.At last, a brief conclusion as well as the expectation for the further study is made.
