In this paper, a hydraulic piling hammer was studied for the construction of highway guardrail. Compared with the existing hydraulic hammer, it has many advantages such high adaptability, efficiency, high degree of automation, and a good dynamic performance. In this paper, considering the characteristics and development trends of the hammer, mechanical and hydraulic system of the hydraulic hammer have been designed, and the electro-hydraulic integration of structural have been designed, based on a small excavator. The main contents and conclusions are as follow:1) Mechanical structure design was based on the chassis and the rotary systems of excavators, including selecting the main components and the primarily design of the working device.2) Based on the mini-excavator hydraulic system, the hydraulic system was designed, and the subsystems were analyzed. In order to ensure the distance between piles, the driving system was calculated before selecting the hydraulic motors. The rotary motor and the annexes were calculated too.3) Control system design has been completed, including selecting electrical components and the proper PLC, designing control panel, compiling the programmers, to achieve a high degree of automation, such as the walking distance control, automatic plumb pile and piling and so on. All the work reduced the labor intensity of workers.4) Simulation software AMESim was used to simulate the hammer piling work, to obtain the impact energy of hydraulic hammers, etc. and then to calculate the working time.5) In accordance with the working simulation parameters, the finite element analysis of the rise and fall chain was finished by Ansys, getting the equivalent diagrams of the stress distribution and displacement. And the production and maintenance requirements were pointed out.
