From the end of the last century to now, the city residential area of our country developed rapidly and human residential environment was improved unprecedentedly in past twenty years. At the same time, the clearly harmonious and traditional city space was disappearing. Neighborhood relationship that was very important on interpersonal communication in past was becoming extremely indifferent. Most of people felt lonely without community belongingness in newly built residential area, which made some negative impacts to society. It is primary trend on residential construction to return to life of neighborhood and create community vitality. Therefore, the paper tries to put forward the thesis of "neighborhood mode of city residential area" that is to make neighborhood communication as the essence of residential construction and study a new city residential area mode which accords with practical situations of our country and the times in order to solve some programs of residential area planning and design in our country.The paper analyses psychology of neighborhood intercourse, behavior characteristic and space characteristic by Environment-behavior science; it has a profound analysis of residential program in aspects of city, residential area and management by Human-oriented means; it also uses for reference from traditional neighborhood space and current planning theories;and then construct a neighborhood mode of city residential area on medium level and on microcosmic level in city, from aspects of design and management. At last, the city life integrates into community life; the neighborhood intercourse extends to city by the means of organizing residential communication space organically, as a result to construct a new community mode that meets emotional requirements of people, adapts to the law of real estate market development and modern lifestyle.
