Nature of all living organisms grow on the sun shine. Without the sun, the earth could not have life. In other words, there is no the whole world. Definition of architectural interior space can also be connected to the natural light.Introducing the natural light to architectural interior space can satisfy the requirements of the ecological balanceand sustainable development, which reflects the rich aesthetic factors and cultural factors, which are essential to the modern architectural design. The paper , choosing sustainable development in the ecological architecture as the starting point ,treating nature, society and ecology as a complete system ,from the people and nature mutually dependent and mutual harmony perspective, reseaches whether natural light meets people's need and whether people can create good architectural light environment in buildings by creating better ecological environment.With the acceleration of urbanization, human energy consumption is increasing. To create a good environment, save natural energy, improve the living environment and construct the harmonious society has become increasingly important. Therefore, it is significant and practical to study the interrelationship among natural light, shadow and architectural interior space.The paper consists of five chapters. The first one, the preface, describes the aim and significance of the research, analyses the similar research and defines the concept and categories involved. The next three chapters are main contents. Chapter Two proves the importance and necessity of utilizing natural light by revealing the influence that natural light has on residents' physiology and psychology and the role natural light plays in interior architecture. The third chapter focuses on the utilization of natural light in interior architecture. By describing some examples, it analyses the original relationships between natural light and architectural designs in the east and west. It also studies a number of typical methods of natural light design by exploring the space function of interior buildings and the space structure. Chapter Four deals with the construction function and influence of light and shadow in interior space based on the theory of visual art and concludes some techniques of utilizing light and shadow indoors. The last chapter illustrates methods of designing natural light in architectural space. In accordance with the conception about creating a natural light environment in architecture, the paper tries to associate the art conception of light design with specific techniques, to achieve every goal, reflecting the right natural light environment that designers pursue.
