With the development of power electronics, harmonics have become a potential threat to the secure, stable and economic operation of power system and have greatly in fluenced the surrounding electrical atmosphere.Therefore, the equipment that can accurately measures the power of both basic wave and harmonics is in urgent need. And it can find the harmonic source and lay the foundation of coming up with necessary regulations to monitor harmonicsThe paper discusses the harmonics detection method-FFT and its apt shortcoming that produce: sampling phase error, picket fence effect and frequency spectrum leakage. In order to solve spectrum leakage, the technology of frequency multiplication phase-locked is used to make sample frequency in pace with power wave frequency, and vary with power wave.And it analyses the parameters design by FFT, including sampling frequency, FFT point and calculation of harmonic parameters, and gives solutions.Automatic meter reading system in accordance with different communication media can be divided into two kinds of wire and wireless.The kind of wire system increases the cost and difficulty, and reduces the flexibility of the system, and The kind of wireless system uses advanced wireless communication technology. It has inherent advantages compared with the wire system .Taking all these issues, this paper uses the international free-band and self-organizing network of wireless ZigBee technology, and design a wireless network automatic meter reading system, which solves the existing problems.Based on above mentioned schemes, the power detection system based on TMS320VC5416 is designed, and the function of automatic meter reading systems based on the ZigBee wireless network technology is implemented.
