A Study On The Heritage Of Architectural Culture Of Dong Nationality

The Dong ethnic group,creating a colorful and diversified architectural culture, boasts rich cultural heritage of the Dongs' traditional architecture in the long history.The architectural heritage,containing immense civilization value,is a concentrated expression of philosophy,society,religion,and customs of the Dongs.As the important role of traditional architecture in reflecting basic social,economic,political conditions of the Dongs,the study of it will facilitate the understanding of traditional culture of the Dongs.This paper,by studying the Dongs' traditional heritage of architectural culture, makes an analysis of the process of its development and infers that it was gradually formed by joint efforts of unique natural geographical and cultural environments.In the process of its development,there are two basic achievements of Dong nationality.One is the non-material,which concerning spirit and skills,and the other aspect concerns tangible form.The main achievements on spirit contains harmonious architectural concept,exquisite construction technology and masterly arts of carving.While the main tangible cultural heritage of buildings involves the unique architectural culture constituting the Dong's villages,the drum towers,and the roofed bridge with a unique art style.In the comparative study of cultural heritage of buildings between the Dong and Han nationality,the thesis analyses specifically the similarities and differences among the origin,the mental concepts and the characteristics of architectural skills.In terms of origin,both are homologous.But they embarked on different roads.In terms of mental concept,both embodies the harmony and unity between man and nature.By comparison, the dissertation further clarifies the value and status of cultural heritage of buildings of the Dongs which makes its due contribution to Chinese traditional architectural culture.On the basis of comparison,the article recommends how to protect and promote the cultural heritage of the buildings of the Dongs.The suggestions on protection and development of Dongs architectural heritage are as follows:firstly,on the premise of the Chinese relevant laws,we should establish eco-museums.Secondly,we can establish charitable organizations such as Cultural Heritage Association for the buildings protection,a successful approach implemented by other countries.Thirdly,strengthening publicity on cultural heritage can not be lagged behind.In the case study,the thesis makes a practical research on the protection and development of cultural heritage of the Dongs' buildings.This paper,adopting the method of field survey and comparison,in exploring the profound ideological contents and rich artistic features of the Dongs,try to find way for proper conservation and sustainable use on these valuable historical and cultural heritage.
