The Differences Between The Chinese And The Foreign Architects In Design Conception

Since 2000, with the rapid economic growth and the rapid development of city construction in china, more and more foreign architects come into Chinese design market, and they often win in international architectural design competition in China. Facing the gap between Chinese and foreign architects in design level, how to analyze design conception to improve domestic architects' design level and competitive ability is becoming an important problem in Chinese architecture designing field today.This paper, referring to the research methods of comparative architecture, compares with the design conception between Chinese and foreign architects from the examples as well as the theory aspect. According to the architectural anthropology and the generalized architecture and other related theories, the author analyzed the backgrounds which cause the differences between Chinese and foreign architects design conception from the architectural culture and the architecture design environment point of view.It is cleared up in this thesis that wide range of tendencies on modern architecture design exists during the example comparison. In the level of art, both the Chinese and foreign architects show off a common concern on the art, but there are some different treatments on art and some different point of view on art concern. In the level of function, foreign architects tend to show more attention, as well as more rational thinking on design. In the level of technique, foreign architects invest more energy in details, and it reflects more closely link between the structure and the technology. During the theoretical comparison, it show off different culture and conscious between Chinese and foreign architects, foreign architects reflect a more sophisticated architecture design conception and personalized building design pursuit.
