Compared with general engineering surfaces, surfaces with stratified functional properties have a peculiar profile feature. Therefore, a special method is needed for these special surfaces evaluation. ISO standards nowadays exist for evaluating and analyzing this type of surface. In our country, however, the study and application of the standards are far from enough in practice. As a result, the evaluation and analysis of surface was relatively dropped behind the advanced countries and hard to track the international standards. Therefore, it's necessary to take the reference of related standards, investigate the analysis and evaluation methods and develop the corresponding application software, so as to provide reference and software support for relevant evaluation instrument.This paper investigated the processing techniques, forming reason of the surface texture. Dug out methods for extracting profile feature, and then discussed the key technology and evaluating algorithms. Based on the above study, the 2D profile feature analysing and evaluation software was developed. The software make use of the powerful scientific computing software Matlab surface feature extraction and implementation of the algorithms, which was then packed in the dynamic link library(DLL) files. Microsoft Visual C++ was used to realize software GUI and calculate parameters by executing the DLL files developed above. Finally, test the function of the software system through a series of simulation numbers, and it turns out the software is workable.
