Research On Diversified Design Strategy Of Small-sized Apartment Space

With the accelerating process of urbanization in China, urban households become smaller and more diversified, and urban residential become more detailed. In this social context, to suggest the diversity of the design of small dwelling-size apartments, and provide more abundant small units of residential products for the cities thus to meet the needs for individuation and adaptability is necessary.This paper discusses the diversity of the design of small dwelling-size apartments in "SAR" theoretical framework and provides a reference for China's development of small dwelling-size apartments.The article is made up of five chapters and can be divided into three parts. The number one chapter is the first part, it brings up the study background, the definition and range of central concept, the goal, the meaning and the method of the study, and it provides the whole frame of the essay. The second part includes the number two chapter and the number three chapter. It recalls the development process of the design methods of small dwelling-size apartments in China and aboard. Secondly, based on investigations and data collections, it analyzes the needs of the main residents, discusses the impact between the basic theories and the needs of the main residents. And then, it analyzes the diversity of small dwelling-size apartments from the perspectives of function constitutes and space structural. The number four and the number five chapters compose the third part of article. In this part, it analyses the design strategy of small dwelling-sized apartment space. It summaries the static space design methods for different family characteristics and lifestyles, and the dynamic space design methods for the changes in family structures and lifestyles. Lastly, in the design practice, based on the geographical features and the needs of the main residents, it selectively uses the diversified design strategy, creates diversified small dwelling-size apartments and preliminarily researches on the use of the diversified design strategy in our country.
