It is important to master the distribution of wind energy and the character of turbulence intensity in complex terrain for the micrositing of wind farms. In order to apply the CFD technology in the wind flow simulation, two typical terrain of the backward facing step and the Askervein hill has been simulated in this paper,by using the FINE/HEXA software from the Belguim company NUMECA.Comparisons between the computational results with the experiment data and further analysis on the ideal locations and the proper installation height of wind turbines have been made.Based on the good accordance, the computational results from FINE/HEXA and other CFD softwares have been compared, which in return validates the universality and the precision of FINE/HEXA software in the micrositing process. Moreover, the effect of the wind velocity, the wind direction, the ground surface roughness and the atmospheric boundary layer height has been analyzed in detail, which will influence the wind energy density distribution, vortex position as well as the turbulence intensity. And the flow influence of setting up a tower on the hill top has been discussed in this paper.
