Firstly, the principle of traditional cascade speed control system is presented in the paper, and power factor of the system are analyzed. The simulation circuit of traditional cascade speed control system is built up by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the relationship between power factor and the fire angle is obtained. And then the principle of chopper cascade speed control system is introduced. The basic calculation methods of power factor for chopper cascade speed control system are established, and using simulation circuit of chopper cascade speed control system validates the result of calculation. Then the factors which affect the power factor of chopper cascade speed control system are analyzed. Lastly the system is compensated by using parallel connection capacitance,and simulating result shows that the power factor can be improved by using the method of compensation reactive power.
