"To know what love is which can make you devote all your life."The poet of Yuan Haowen showes how greatly emotion would influence people. As an integration of art, emotion and techonology, architecture is an artwork which can provide people to feast the space. The rayalty and solemn of churches, the bloom and sunshine of schools, the activity and honest of governmental buildings, the serenity and simplicity of temples…a successful architecture must have the artistic emotional quality of her space which can meet her functions and also make people feel euphonious and decent. As Consumption Times comes, being chances for people to enjoy leisure and vacation, what kind of emotion quality the architectural space of resort hotels should present?Based on the background that since the Consumption Times comes Chinese people's concept of tourism has changed from tour-type to resort-type, this paper analyses the emergence of resort hotels, reviews the development process of resort hotels in developed country and our country, and from the emotional aspect explores deeply the concept of design and development direction of resort hotels in our country.The first chapter introduces the great changes of people's consumption concept in nowadays. As an important consume form the leisure tourism has developed rapidly, resort hotels has gained more and more attention.The second chapter elaborates the origin, emergence and development course of the resort hotels, and present the development trends and also the relative theoretical basis of the design for resort hotels at home and abroad in present-day.From the vacationists'consumption needs of resort hotels, the third chapter analyses the motivation of vacation tourism and the course of enjoyment. After presenting the similarities and differences between the vacationists'psychology in developed country and our country, the author puts forth an opinion that resort consumers chases for the"agreeable emotion".The forth chapter is the core of this thesis. Based on the analysis foundation ofchasing of"agreeable emotion"presented in the third chapter, this chapter discuss deeply how to creat satisfying emotion space for consumer in design of resort hotels. The article elaborates the relationships with nature, region culture, individuality, consumption level for the constitutions of emotional space, and puts forth individually this four key words: Symbiosis, Resonance, Integration and Match. From the two ways of on-site inspection and date collection and analysing of the space desing of resort hotels in famous Bali, Yue Rongzhuang in Lijiang and Jiu Zhai Tian Tang in Sichuan, the author presents thoroughly the various ways of satisfying vacationists'agreeable emotion of those top resort hotels at home and abroad, and extracts and summarizes corresponding theory.The last chapter is the introduce and analysis of Suo Kouzhai Resort Hotel in Zhang Jiajie, an atcual project. As one of the important designers, the author participated the whole design process of this project. Based on this project, this paper tries to put forth four opinions about the design for resort hotels, which are:1. Respecting nature and protecting ecological environment are the premise of restort hotel design.2. Region culture and local customs are the soul of resort hotels'space constitute.3. Characterizing space and pursuit of individuality are the philosophy of design.4. Multiplicity of consumption levels is the key element of vitality and competition of resort hotels.The author hope that through the research and discuss it would provides some valuable priciples and methods for resort hotels design in the future and enrich the theory date of resort hotel design in our chountry.
