There are some objects used as reference in precision verification of CNC machine tool and CMM. Based on the types of the object material standards, there are several verification methods: 1) The method adopting 3D prototype workpieces, housings, 3D templates, zone plates and so on; 2) The method adopting 2D prototype workpieces, 2D templates, disks and so on; 3) The method adopting 1D prototype workpieces, gauge blocks, ball-and-stick method, machine inspection gauges and so on.Based on the research of former scholars, this thesis discusses the precision theory and technique in CMM and numerical control machine reference frame verification adopting ball plate. Besides, experiment on CMM precision verification adopting ball plate is carried on. This thesis gives the experiment system and put forward a new method in CMM verification- one-dimensional Ball Row symmetric connection method of combination calibration. Namely, uses one-dimensional ball row instead of standard ruler in combination calibration and adopts special CMM verification apparatus that change the one-dimensional ball row to as 3D. CMM measures arbitrary beeline in the measuring space by symmetric connection comparative measurement and processes the datum by least square method to attain the measuring errors. Accordingly, compute the precision calibrating results of center distances and axial precisions of CMM. Besides, presents the problems existing in this technology and advices of further development.
