Titled as "The small-sized Palace Museum in China", Mu's Manor is the largest and the best-preserved old buildings with yards-set in the North. It is famous also because of its distinguished Northern features. Owing to its historical and cultural value, it is announced to be the first important national protective object in 1988 by the State Council. There are many exquisite mural paintings inside the Manor. Upon careful observations, you will find that those paintings are telling the same motif of "asking for blessings from gods" both from the choice of the subject matter and the composition. This has become one of the most charming features of the Manor. This article, tries to give an expounding of the artistic value of its mural paintings from the perspective of locality, the cultural connotations and the folk characteristics, combined with the analysis of the creative mentality of the folk artists and the requirements of the Mu's clan.
