| Chinese pavilions of traditional architecture,one brilliant branch of the magnificent and profound ancient Chinese culture,not only enjoys a long history and has a complete display of the traditional Chinese architecture with the unique integration of modeling and texture,but also conveys the beauty beyond the words, which is exclusive only to people fully exposed to Chinese culture.The author tries, from different perspective,to reveal the aesthetic meanings of the Chinese pavilions both in depth and width.First of all,this thesis tries to reveal the charm of the pavilions of traditional Chinese architecture from their synchronic development and diachronic modeling and texture features.Then,it points out that westerners failed to be capable of interpreting the imaginary aesthetics behind the physical outlook of the pavilions.The paper concentrates on this aesthetic beauty of the pavilions,including their classic Chinese imaginary esthetics and ecological beauty being passed down on from ancient times.There come the pavilions on the border,in the gardens,as shelters for the mind to think and in literatures,which shows the evolution of their functions from something more practical to spiritual,and finally reached Chinese imaginary aesthetics.This is the essence of the aesthetic beauty of Chinese classic culture.To be more specific,the limited tools could express the unlimited images and feelings.Pavilions,as highlights in Chinese traditional gardens,convey the ecological messages of ancient Chinese people,which emphasize the beauty of nature and advocate that all the artificial constructions must be in harmony with their natural surroundings to gestate the new.The process is filled with the beauty of metabolic extensions of life.Moreover,the pavilions,as unique Chinese architectures,expose the character of China as a whole,namely being quite reserved and attract the beauties of the surroundings to add their charm.The pavilions are not the lens through which you could watch the world but rather a frame,from which one could snapshot the scene to appreciate.The world the pavilions create is the one that is self-reliant and promotes and complement the artistic conception of Chinese philosophy.This thesis,from the perspective of the poetic beauty of the pavilions,spatial remembrance and philosophical thinking with its origin from Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,offers answers to the questions:what makes the pavilions so irreplaceable for Chinese people and what the significant meanings of the pavilions to mankind,in the sincere hope that the attraction and charm of the pavilions could inspire and enlighten the people in the field. |
