Research On The Vitality Of Urban Streets Based On Central Place Theory

At present, with the development of human society, the city issues of "people-oriented" and "sustainable development" are receiving more and more attention, however, on the urban design for the purpose of improve the quality of life, people always lay the stress on the physical environment, the issues that how to create a human environment is little concerned. In this paper, the "street vitality" factors of Beijing are studied in details, trying to reveal the laws of internal vitality of the city streets in the formation and changes.First, this thesis analyses the three core concepts: city, street, and vitality, suggests the vitality of the city streets is the essence of urban human activities, and the concept of " Vitality Centers " in city, learning from the "Center Place" concept of the central place theory, so that the resolve the factors of formation of dynamic urban street could be resolved.Then, this thesis analyses the "the activities of human" of city in details, finds the relationship between the activities in city and that in street, researches and analyses part of the data, so as to arrive the features of vitality of the city streets "Vitality Centers" features. Based on this analysis, this thesis educes the initial prototype of city streets, which in turn extends to the prototype system of the vitality of the city streets and the vitality the state of vitality of the streets.The vitality state of city streets is not a static form, this thesis finds the controllable factors of the changeable state by using the prototype of dynamic street, in the analysis of the turnover of the dynamic state of several streets in Beijing.At the same time, this thesis believes that whether the presence of vitality of city streets or not is only the prerequisite for the dynamic of streets, in order to create a high quality of the vitality of city streets, the interaction of physical elements and spirit elements is needed, which for us provides guidance to the urban design in the control of the vitality state of cities and streets, so that it facilitates our city to create a more livable environment. In addition, the paper also summarizes the overall situation of city streets in Beijing.At last, the paper introduced the program of environmental remediation projects to the Xidan North Street as a dynamic analysis based on the vitality street prototype.
