Overhead transmission lines are an important component of power system. However,by its own structure and operating characteristics,overhead transmission lines are easily lead to failure because operating environment and other factors.Therefore,it is bound to have great significance to entire power network if we can effective detect and monitoring transmission lines insulation defect.In this paper,we use the system's the transient voltage and current signal (high-order harmonic signal mainly) which in normal operation status and reference to the relevant historical data to form into the location criteria,so the line is estimated whether there is insulation defects happen,and find determine the minimum insulation resistance and insulation of the center section of the most serious flaw.On the basis of the research algorithm,the software system has been developed to monitor the transmission line insulation defects.The simulation results show that the detection method proposed in this paper is able to identify insulation defects of overhead-line,and provide the necessary technical support to condition maintenance for power system,and have broad application prospects.
