Discharge inside or outside insulation of high-voltage electrical equipment canlead to deterioration of insulation, and result in insulation breakdown and short circuitfaults at last. On-line monitoring and pattern recognition of the discharge can be usedto estimate their types and developing levels, and avoid faults. According to thecharacteristics of the insulation of high-voltage electrical equipments, a set ofsoftware about the ultra-frequency on-line monitoring system is developed. Thesoftware can automatically acquire and process not only statistical characteristics ofthe discharges, but also the detailed wave shape of them.At first, the paper puts forward the insufficiency of traditional monitoring, discussing the importance of the high-voltage equipment insulation and the status inquo of on-line monitoring at foreign and home.Based on objected-oriented programming, integration of graph and database, anddatabase management, an advanced graphic system is developed. Through the kindsof software, we choose the C++ Builder as the front exploitation software and SQLServer 2000 as the background database. The paper introduces the design of all kinds of modules in detail. Included are thelogin authority, communication, data collection, the database, alarm of faults, formsand so on.In chapter four, it not only proposes the module structure of the Artificial NeuralNetwork (ANN), but also carries out the BP ANN through the Matlab proceduretransferred by C++ Builder. According to the actual PD types existed in a powertransformer, three corresponding discharge models are designed. Based on these, thePD characteristics of these models are measured in air and transformer oil respectively, and the related phase-resolved distributions are obtained. These works will be helpfulto the pattern recognition of the PD in a power transformer and have demonstrated thepracticability and the feasibility.
