Founded in 1935, Beijing Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Relics, the earliest professional organization for the renovation and protection of architecture relics, was merged into China Cultural Relics Research Institute in 1990 after nearly more than seventy years'development。During the period, Beijing Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Relics, including its facilities in sequel, was always playing the most important role in the preservation of architecture relics in China, which carried out large numbers of renovation and protection projects for architecture relics。Some of the projects finished during the seventy years are our main studying targets with a mass of existing historical data of projects, files of engineering techniques as well as those predecessors'works, and two projects of the Temple of Heave in 1930s within the period of Beijing Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Relics and the Temple of Yonglegong in 1960s within the period of China Cultural Relics Research Institute are chosen as the most representative examples discussed in this article. The protection state of architecture relics in China within early period is hoped to be shown up and the successful experience from the projects can be concluded to help make sense of the learning research to the real project.
