The ligament effect of highway acting as connecting and promoting regional economical development has become increasingly outstanding. Meanwhile, highway spread in the complex environment geological condition, will be threaten and destroyed by all kinds of geological hazards inevitably. Among disasters causing the loss to highway, landslide has been one of the most serious disasters. And what's more, the economic loss caused by traffic jams and interruption which were caused directly or indirectly by geological hazards is enormous. Therefore,The Main Line Highway Disaster Prevention Project carried out by the Ministry of Communications, aimed at to use scientific, effective, comprehensive and economical prevention and cure measures to prevent and control the geological hazards along highway, ensuring highway unlocked and reducing loss caused by geological hazards. Risk and loss assessment on the geological hazards is not only the cognition on development intensity and the harmfulness degree, but also the basis to select the types of prevention measures, it has very important guiding significance to the hazards prevention.The thesis bases on the relevant contents of west region communication construction technology project of the Ministry of Communications---The Extension and Application Demonstration of The Hazards Prevention on Roadbed Damage and it's based on project. Firstly, based on the detailed investigation of the survey and the present situation of the geological hazards, such as the types, amounts, and the distribution, of the based on project---No.316 national roads in ShaanXi between AnKang and HanZhong. The most harmful geological hazard---landslide was selecteas the research objects. The thesis studied the causation of highway hazards and the generation mechanism of landslide form both sides of environmental factors, such as rainfall etc. and human activity or engineering(mainly the construction of the highway).Secondly, the research selecte the human activity and engineering (mainly the construction and operating of the highway) which was seldom considered ,as well as other natural factors,like the development stages of the landslide, rainfall etc. as main evaluation factors for the risk assessment of the landslide. The classification standards of the influencing factors was established according to the actual situation.Then, the thesis selectes Analytical Hierarchy Process and Comprehensive Index Method, which were extensively applied, as the major means to risk assessment. Models were established to determine the weight of the evaluation factors and evaluate the risk of the landslides. The paper evaluated the direct and the indirectly economy loss, the concept of the degree of directly, indirectly economy loss, comprehensive harm and idea about the way to calculate them were proposed. The results of the risk assessment match practical case.Lastly, the paper put forward corresponding prevention measures based on the results of the risk and vulnerability assessment.
