Acoustic echosounder is used for depth measurements on the sea. And it is widely applied in the field of underwater acoustics. Thus it plays a key role in ship transportation, topographic mapping and marine works. This paper discusses the high-frequency single-beam echosounder, which is achieved by the CS-60A monostatic transducer, and its feasibility. Its working principle, block diagram and performance indicators are demonstrated in detail either. Then parameters of each slave-system are obtained by analyzing the active sonar equation. It makes designs of transmitter and receiver circuit hold water theoreticly. The main task of this paper is hardware design of the echosounder. The transmitter is comprised by driver circuits, B power amplifier and matching circuits. It transmits signals. The receive system is consists of amplifiers, bandpass filter circuits, gain control circuits, envelope detector and the isolation circuits. A single-chip digital circuit component is also included in the receive system. This receive system implements signal reception, conditioning, and serial communication with the host computer. Interface circuits and chassis are design for integrity. The paper also develops display and console software for the master computer. The software controls signal transmitting/receiving, data processing and results display. A softerware developed on the Single Chip Micyoco (SCM) enables the receiver communicate with the master computer. The automatic gain control (AGC) is designed on it either. Functions of the system are validated by experiments. Results prove that the system meets all indices.
