The propagation characteristic of underwater sound wave is the best in all kind of energy that we all know. Sound wave has information about scalar field and vector field. But pressure sensor was predominant in underwater acoustic field for a long time. A vector sensor is an acoustic transducer composed of homocentric acoustic pressure sensors and particle velocity sensors that measure simultaneously scalar quantity(pressure) and vector quantity(pressure gradient, particle velocity, acceleration, displacement ,etc) at the same location. The vector sensor injects more life to acoustic signal processing and sensor technology. The vector sensor was successfully applied in weak signal detection, direction of arrival estimation, torpedo control and guide, etc.In this thesis, based on the historical retrospect of the development, the actuality and the applications of the direction of arrival with vector sensor array, high resolution method and its stability of linear array with 2-D vector sensor were researched. Firstly, a model of unambiguous DOA estimation using vector sensor linear array was designed, the performance of DOA estimation was researched when vector sensor linear array lies on different axis of coordinate and combination directive function was produced based on the vector vertical linear array using 2-D sensor, whose velocity Vx and Vy direct X axis and Y axis and vector linear array lies on Z axis. Bartlett Beamformer and conventional MUSIC method using this vector sensor array were given. It is the first time to deduce spectrum estimation function of MUSIC method based on 2-D vector sensor uniform linear array with 3 sensors. Two algorithms based on decorrelation MUSIC method were studied. The model of vector sensor array error and the effect of Amplitude-Phase error, Axial error and Doppler Frequency-shift on high resolution method were analyzed. Joint-Search way of phase error and DOA estimation using Nich-GA were given. The model and all algorithms were researched via theory and simulation. The model of unambiguous DOA estimation, Bartlett Beamformer, conventional MUSIC method and calibration way were verified by dealing with the experimental data obtained from SONG HUA lake.at the end of this paper.
