In order to ensure the normal production, it is needed to provide blast furnace the stable quantity and pressure of air. The air is transported to the furnace by blast fan to support the charging and combustion. A turbine blower in Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited had been operated for decades. Its control system could not work properly as before. It is needed to revamp the control system to improve the state of the turbine blower. The improvement of the control system could bring many benefits to Company.Based on the revamping project of turbine blower unit control system in Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited. an improving scheme is proposed. The control accuracy of the unit is improved after the revamping. The objectives of improvement are met.The research trends of turbine blower unit control system are summarized. The statue of original control system is introduced. The improving objectives of adjustment on speed, air volume and air pressure and of anti-surge control are outlined. After comparing several common control systems of turbine blower unit, the low-pressure turbine oil revamping scheme is adopted to improve the control system. The pressure controller of outlet, flow controller, and anti-surge controller are designed. The control of speed, air volume, air pressure and anti-surge of the unit are realized by these controller and electro-hydraulic converter.The Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to select and evaluate the project contractor. The evaluate criteria are set. An evaluate matrix is used to analyze candidate contractors and the most suitable contractor is selected by qualitative and quantitative analyses.The revamping scheme is implemented in Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited. The fluctuations of speed, air volume and pressure of the unit are measured. All the parameters have met the requirements of the unit. The control system is validated. At present, the control system of turbine blower unit operates smoothly and safely.
