Humanity Idea And Detail Design Of City Square

With the development of society, human beings have been changing the nature constantly and seeking for a suitable space to live. The emergence of city meets people's needs to work efficiently and live comfortably. However, the city is so crowded and narrow that people have to adjust the way they use the space .Indeed, city square is regarded as the very necessary adjustment .It not only makes the intensive building complex spacious, but also plays an important role in perfecting the function of the city, enhancing its image, improving its environment as well as passing on the history and culture to the young generations. Thus square becomes the key component of the city's external space environment.In addition, with the high living standard ,city square is not only the vital component of the city structure, but also an indispensable outdoor place for people to relax .It can relieve the physical and psychological pressure caused by all kinds of environmental problems. Thus, it is famed as an attractive garden and a comfortable dining room because it is an excellent place for both recreation and social activities. But its form is varied because of different cultural backgrounds. The thesis focuses on how to adjust different forms with local people's behavior, psychology, culture as well as customs, making it a more localized, humanistic, and appealing place to relax.First, this paper clarifies the interaction between city and square from the theoretical and humanistic points of view and analyzes the necessity of humanity on the design of city square. Second, humanity idea on the design of city square is another focus which involves people's behavior, psychology, social culture and so on. Through in-depth study on the theory, the humanity idea and other effective methods have been conducted. That is: human-centered principle, human and nature principle, local characteristic principle, economic optimum and civilization principle, Characteristic culture principle, the variety of forms, the accuracy of the size, the clear function of the theme, the method to emphasize the distinctive culture and the method to coordinate with the periphery.Third, a survey on the city square in xi'an has been conducted. On the one hand, the field work research has been adopted That is:taking photos on the spot,analyzing the draft and measuring the details to collect the first-hand materials。On the other hand,plenty of several immeasurable data has been selected after looking through the related materials and photographs。Based on humanity,detailed analysis has also been carried out,forging humanity on both material and immaterial level。To sum up,the field research result and humanity idea have been successfully applied to xi'an zhangjiabao square. Therefore,these ideas and methods have been proved not only practical but also valuable .It will make great contribution to designing the city square.
