The confirmation of Vertically ultimately bearing capacity of single Pile, as we all know, is the most basic and difficult problem of the design of Pile foundation. A lot of theoretical research, model investigation and field experimentation has been done by many scholars, many achievements are obtained in these works. It is significative to find a reasonable and economical way to ascertain Vertically ultimately bearing capacity of single Pile, not only because the number of test pile can be reduced tremendously but also lots of funds can be saved.The Finite Element Method of Lines is a new semi analytical method which basic on the software of ordinary differential equation solver. The method has been applied to solid mechanics especially in linear elasticity area successfully. And it is maturer day by day. The Finite Element Method of Lines use the displacement of pitch lines rather than nodes as the basic unknown quantity, so the method keep the merits such as good flexibility of structural shape, load form and boundary conditions, at the same time is more accurate on the result and simpler on net division and data input.Firstly, this paper makes the acts of the pile foundation soil in a actual project as a example, builds the axisymmetric Swirl units of Finite Element Method of Lines, deduces the basic theories of Finite Element Method of Lines that suitable to solve elastic mechanics problem with axisymmetric swirl unit. This method has a satisfying accuracy as showing by the example.Secondly, a program of Finite Element Method of Lines which can calculate Vertically ultimately bearing capacity of single Pile has been compiled. The users can get the result of the problem.Finally, this paper applies the program to the analysis of a actural project, and obtains six kinds of analysis, the comparison with the result of statical test in a actural project prove the correctness of the theory. It is not difficult to reach the conclusion that it's feasible and economical to apply Finite Element Method of Lines in the analysis of Vertically ultimately bearing capacity of single Pile. The theory can be used by the designer in practice.
