With the development of highway in China, the desire for the safety, comfortability and reliability of high rate coach is stronger than ever. Since the coach with engine mounted in the middle has the advantages which the coach with engine mounted in the front or rear does not have, it has become a very popular coach type in developed countries, such as Europe and America. However, the research and development of middle mounted engine coach is just beginning in China, it needs to conduct the relative technique study with great emphasis. On this background, this paper conducted the study and the main work is as follows:(1) By reading large numbers of relative references, this paper chose a middle mounted engine coach to study its engine mount system. And one of the problem was the big vibration of the engine once the engine started. By applying engine mount design theory, this paper analyzed the natural characteristics of the mount system and found the main reasons, then, the paper conducted the optimization and improvement design of the mount structure system, finally, test method was used to validate the optimization design, and the test result showes that the optimized mount system can meet the engine design requirement in a high degree.(2) Conducted the study on the matching of the cooling system, this is because the heat radiation condition of the middle mounted engine is much worse than that of the front or rear mounted engines. Thus, the cooling system must be carefully matched by proper calculation. According to the cooling system matching theory and referring the relative design experience, this paper conducted the matching and calculation of the cooling system for the developing coach, and validated the calculation. The study provides the relative guidance for the development of the middle mounted engine coach in the future.In conclusion, this paper conducted the study of engine mount structure design and cooling system matching calculation for a middle mounted engine coach in developing, and the study result shows that the method used in this paper is valuable for the engine mount system design and cooling system matching of the middle mounted engine coach.
