Xinyi tall building is the landmark building in Mianyang of Sichuan Province, its total area is 135000m2 and building height is 138.8 meter. The building has a frame-shear wall structure with 2 underground floors and 36 overground floors. The 5 floors at the bottom are connected to the podium and there are more frame posts here compared to the superstructure. The frame posts of the superstructure is less and supported by the frame beams of the under structure. In allusion to the existing problems of the earthquake-resistant design of the Xinyi building, this paper dose depth research.The results of reconnaissance and test of wave velocity are comprehensively analyzed; the dynamic parameters of each soil layers are calculated; the cite type is determined precisely; the situation of the bedrock of the site is realized and then the parameters for earthquake-resistant design and the analyses of earthquake effect can be supplied effectively. The preliminary results show that the rigidity of the structure is lower and the earthquake resistant of the structure under horizontal earthquake is weak. So the structural programme of the building is adjusted in order to be more safe and reasonable. The adjustment of the interlaminar shears in the high-rise building design and the enhancement coefficients of the rigidity of the beams when pouring floors are easy to be ignored and they are not identified in the criterions. So there are repeated pilot calculations of them in this paper and the results show that for frame-shear wall structures whose number of frame posts sudden changes along the vertical, the interlaminar shears can't be adjusted automatically by structural calculation software and they should be adjusted manually; the enhancement coefficients of the rigidity of the beams when pouring floors have a great impact on the ratio of reinforcement of the frame beams, especially on the beams connected to the shear walls and they should be identified by calculations and analyses basing on the project specific circumstances.The research results above are applied in the structural design of the Xinyi building. The earthquake resistance of the building is ensured and structural design experience of high-rise building is accumulated.
