Fan noise is the most primary noise fountain in the continuous wind tunnel. High-noise not only affects the reliability and the accuracy of the result in the wind tunnel experiment. but also brings serious noise pollution. Consequently, to design low-noise vanes of wind tunnel fan is of great significance. This paper is aimed at studying the method to design low-noise vanes of wind tunnel fan, using the approach of engineering estimation test and CFD numerical simulation to analyze the noise levels of wind tunnel fan, finding out the profit method of designing low-noise vanes in engineering.According to the basic theory of designing wind tunnel fan, base on the RAF-E aerofoi the wind, fan vanes have been designed and fabricated. Using the engineering estimation method to analyze the fan's aerodynamic noise. The influences of the vanes'number B, the chord length C and the consistency to aerodynamic noise have been analyzed. By modifying the thickness of the blade trailing edge, research influences of the blade trailing edge to the aerodynamic performance and noise levels. Using the CFD numerical simulation software, noise level of the power section have been calculated. Then aerodynamic noise level under the four characteristic speeds and two sets of blade has been got. The axial fan noise measurement test has been finished. And the data of sound pressure level from the test are compared with the results of the CFD numerical simulation to verify the results of CFD numerical simulation are accurate and effective.Through the study of engineering estimation method, CFD numerical simulation and the fan noise measurement test, this paper has been summed up a numerical simulation method it is suitable for the engineering practice and is of great significance for designing low-noise vanes of wind tunnel fan.
