The optical coherence tomography(OCT) is one of the novel tomography imaging technique, which possess the capability of non-invasion in vivo imaging the microstructure of biological tissue with high resolution. To improve the properties-to-cost ratio and elevate the axis resolution of the OCT system, we hereby referred the fundamental theory of OCT system coordinating with the trend of modern development of OCT system, and thus, intensively investigated the design, debugging, data process and application of OCT system. The details are described as following:1. According to the basic theory of OCT, the shortcoming and advantages of the conventional system were analyzed, and the new ideas for ameliorating the design of OCT system were brought forward. The ameliorated OCT could not only decline the price of the source greatly, but also have better properties-to-cost ratio than conventional one. It thus has potential spread application.2. An optical-fiber-based OCT system was designed. In this new system, a double SLD sources, with center-wave of 1310nm and up to 50nm Full Width at Half-Maximum Width (FWHM), is chosen. A longitudinal resolution of 8 to 25μm and transverse resolution of 30μm were achieved in the imaging of bio-tissue.3. A high quality one-dimensional imaging was achieved by using the LabVIEW virtual instrument platform (provided by NI), which has the capability of real-time and in vivo data acquisition, storage, processing and displaying result.In comparison to the conventional and other current system, our ameliorated OCT system was proven in the experiment to be able to obtain bio-tissue structure with high resolution and sensitivity. Furthermore, as the performance of the system was optimized with high properties-to-cost ratio, this system would extend its application in experimental study and clinic of bioengineering.
