Be the key part of the vertical mill, the main gearbox is located at the down position to the vertical mill. It is the main drive device of the vertical mill, and the continue rolling operation could be done due to it, so the powder process could be made. The axis compressive stress during the powder operation should press into the foundation through the reducer. The torque and the compressive stress could be different by the size of the vertical mill. The axis compressive stress of (?)5.6m vertical mill should be about 656 tone, and if the dynamic load during the powder process operation should be regarded, the value could be 1890 tone. The (?)5.6m vertical mill is the one of the biggest one of the vertical mill. The vertical mill gearbox is widely used at this field.The follow text is the research to gearbox based on the design of the (?)5.6m vertical mill gearbox. At first, the calculation method of the torque and the specification could de made by using the advanced design theory, and the further design process could be done. And then, we could get the lubrication system data to the steadily loaded fixed-inclined-pad thrust bearings, combined with the analysis of it, so the calculation method of it could be get. At last, the optimize research to the planetary gear transmission would be done, including the optimize research to the planetary support and the gear box case, based on the low weight and the low GD~2 , then the progress to the (?)5.6m vertical mill gearbox should be made. The design of the gearbox finished on December,2006 with the target of the object made. It is the first design of the vertical mill gearbox to ERz., the primary mechanical device supplier in China. And it would be the foundation to the further design work.
