Abstract/Summary:
Phthalate esters (PAEs) is one class of environmental hormens substance, it belongs to priority pollutants of USEPA and Chinese blacklist of environmental pollutions, and phthalate (2-ethyl-hexyl) ester is controlled substance in the standards for urban water supply of Ministry of Construction and standards for drinking water quality of Ministry of Health. With the development of society and economy, fast speeding of industrialization, potential toxicity and long-term high harmfulness, it has formed potential threaten to the raw water quality in the water plant of Three Gorges Reservoir, and the new standard of water supply has been implemented, so we need to research economical and effective advanced treatment technology, in order to supply water in safty, economy, efficiency. Our group had detected raw water in water plant in Three Gorges Reservoir, PAEs is one of representative toxic organic pollutants. In this study, we choose four PAEs, dimethyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, (di-2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, di-n-octyl phthalate, and reference the PAEs concentration level in domestic water environment, choose influent concentration is 20, 60, 100μg/L, and study on removal effects of phthalate esters on the activated carbon and zeolite filter columns. And increase the NH3-N and CODMn of influent in order to biofilm culturing of filter columns, and then investigate the removal effects of PAEs on the filter columns. When the filter speed is 4m/h, at the three concentration, the removal rate of total PAEs in activated carbon is 70.7~73.9%, in zeolite is 32.8~58.6%. When the influent concentration is 20, 60μg/L, 80cm filter layer is effective; but in zeolite filter columns the effluent concentration is decreased follow the thickness increasing of filter columns at the three influent concentration. As the filter speed increase, there are regularities on PAEs removal rate of activated carbon filter columns. At the three filter speed and three influent concentration, activated carbon filter columns shows higher removal rate on DMP, DBP and lower removal rate on DEHP, DOP. When the filter speed increase, in the 20,60μg/L influent concentration the removal rate of DEHP, DOP on zeolite filter is close even slightly better then activated carbon filter. In the activated carbon and zeolite filter columns, at three influent concentration, the removal rate of four PAEs in effluent concentration is decreased follow the filter speed increase, especially to the DEHP and DOP in the activated carbon filter.Increase the NH3-N and CODMn of influent in order to biofilm culturing of filter columns, after biofilm culturing, the removal rate of NH3-N and CODMn on activated carbon filter is steady on 36.2% and 21.6%, on zeolite filter it is 23.9% and 26.1%. After biofilm culturing, as the filter speed q=4m/h and influent concentration is 60μg/L, the removal rate of PAEs in two filter decreased.
