Automobile manufacturers of our country are all making effort to enhance production performance to meet the requirement of crash code or get higher grader in C-NCAP regulation, so as to increase the sold-out amount and competition ability of production. In allusion to the frontal crash code—Passenger Protection of Frontal Crash of Passenger Cars(GB11551-2003) and China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP), the critical structure,structure crash-enduring character and dummy damage of mini-passenger car is studied using the technique of CAE based on finite element method, the relationship between structure crash -enduring character and protection of passengers is revealed, aimed to enhance the passive security of passenger with the used of low cost and excellent structure .The central technique outline is as follows:①Built the complete frontal crash simulation finite element model of mini-passenger car which including the body,suspension system,tires,rigid wall,dummy,safety-belt,safety-gasbag etc, settling base for crash simulation;②Made assessment on the main structure of the car with aspect to displacement deflection,energy abortion gross,energy absorption ratio,mass energy density,max acceleration,average acceleration,RMS of acceleration , found out the critical crash-enduring structure of mini-passenger car: front carling,support bracket of front wheel cover,front wheel cover and front floor;③according to the structure crash-enduring design principles, discussed the influence of structure parameters on dummy damage with respect to the energy absorption character,stiffness distribution,material yield intensity, investigated the effect of improved structure on passengers protection, combining techniques and cost, chosen the reasonable structure parameters, determined the final improve method . the results indicated: the final improve method ensured high performance of head,neck,chest and thigh of dummy, and the passenger protection meet the requirement of frontal code GB11551-2003 and C-NCAP.④Summarized the relationship between structure crash-enduring performance and passenger protection, namely, in order to obtain the best protection of passengers and material saving, consideration should be taken from energy absorption,stiffness distribution of front carling,stiffness of front floor,material intension of front wheel cover, then choose the optimal match; This paper revealed the relationship between structure crash-enduring performance and passenger protection of frontal crash, made the passenger protection meet the requirement of frontal code GB11551-2003 and C-NCAP, which could provide reference on security performance improvement, and add new content to the application of simulation technique.
