In the long span bridge health monitoring system, the sensor system which collects the information of the structure is one of the most important parts. If the sensors are placed well, not only the outlay will be saved, but also more information of the structure will be collected by fewer sensors. Therefore, the study on optimal placement of sensors for bridge health monitoring system is very meaningful. This thesis does some studies on the program based on simulated annealing algorithm which is a non- traditional optimization algorithm.Firstly, comprehensive summary about the significance, principle and method of optimal placement of sensors for bridge health monitoring system are given in the thesis. Then the phylogeny, rationale and concrete process about simulated annealing algorithm are detailedly introduced. Followingly, by combining the characteristic of simulated annealing algorithm and the rationale of optimal placement of sensors, the restriction and objective function of this optimal method is set, and integrity mathematic modal based on the principle of Modal Assurance Criterion is established. Finally, a solving method of optimal placement of sensors is given.Based on the Haixin Bridge of Haikou city, the Finite Element Program MIDAS/Civil is used to establish the spatial model and carries on analysis to the bridge, which gets the displacement model data of the beam and arched tower of Haixin Bridge. The optimal method based on simulated annealing algorithm is programmed with MATLAB parameter design language. By utilizing the program methioned above, the sensors of the beam and arched tower of Haixin bridge is placed optimally.By analyzing of the optimal result, the method introduced in this thesis is reasonable and can be realized easily. It is of some application value as well.
