A Tentative Study Of The Detailing Design On Old Building Recycling In China

Since the beginning of Chinese reform and opening up, especially after the 1990s in the 20th century, the recycling of old buildings is gradually being everyone's attention and being practiced in many Chinese cities due to the peoples'new recognition of the old buildings'economic and cultural value. However, the over-using of Pubic detailing plan in practice makes several old building recycling projects being non-featured ones. Therefore, the integrated and complicated design aimed at improving the details become necessary.This paper, basing on related theories in and out abroad, tries to start innovated explorations on the following aspects:1. Rely on the detailing design theories based on the research results in and out abroad to help us analysis and summarize major affecters in detailing design. As to the detailing design, the theoretical absorbing merely from the architectures'experiences is rather limited. in their own architects to explore the theory is very limited. Only through the in-depth understanding of Construction theory can we know more about detailing design.2. Start field investigations on the old building recycling practices in China, through which summarized the difficulties in these processes. We first compiled the old building recycling development process and its'practical contends. According to these results, we classified differentiate affecters in the detailing design and then defined the investigation contends to deliver the field studies and finally got the results.3. Summed up detailing design methods in the process of old building recycling. The process of recycling the old buildings itself is a reconstruction process of the overall architecture language. Characteristics are the same with those of detailing design process. So starting from the language to discuss detailing design methods relates closely with the original characteristics of the old building recycling. Therefore, this paper firstly summered up the detailing process according to linguistics nature of the details to conclude that: detailing design is a process of continuously absorbing information and further improving its'own language. After that, we inputted the investigation results we have done before into the correspondence subjects of detailing design process. And finally came to the conclusion of detailing design 9-step principle combining with old building recycling status.4. Take Zhimin Li in Hankow recycling design projects as the case study. We applied the detailing design 9-step principle into the whole analysis of the detailing design process. The design results of the main details helped us preliminary explore the effectiveness of the design rules and its'possible development in the future. We wish this principle can be completed by the case study.
