Gas insulated Switchgear (GIS) is important equipment in power system. It has been more and more widely applications. Compared with 110kV conventional switchgear, GIS is the most developed switchgear with many excellent features, including less expropriation of land, rapid construction, close structure, a better applicability, long overhaul period and safe circulation, etc. Thus, the GIS transformer substation style will become the first choice gradually.The thesis described the nature of SF6, and introduced GIS equipment on the structure and its installation detailedly. It combining the design project of transformer substation includes the primary power-system, architecture, HVAC and so on. Introduced the characteristics of the GIS transformer substation-main electrical scheme, electric floor plan layout, equipment selection, lightning proof grounding, on the basis of studying the design of Xinjiang 110kV Hade transformer substation.There is also a design for main electrical connection in this engineering, the calculation for short-circuit electric current, the selection of electrical device and calibration (including circuit breaker, isolator, current transformer, potential transformer ,bus bar etc.) and the design for distribution installation per. voltage grade, direct current system and lightning protection is also included. This design is closely related to reality in order to design the suitable substation by studying a lot of materials.
