The Hemispherical Resonator Gyros (HRG) is a new type of gyro and it has such advantages as no high precision, high reliability, great endurance in over loading, no warm-up time and short start-up time. Hemispherical shell resonator is the key component of HRG, it's standing wave precession effect is using for tachometric survey and angular measure. Presently, researches on HRG are mainly centralized on theory analysis and signal processing, while researches on hemispherical shell resonator are less, but the design and manufacture of resonator are become the technological bottleneck confining the development of HRG. So research on influences of different shape parameters on resonator's total mechanical property, just called the max stress of inner stretch and the max compression stress, and extract the variable curves about these to provide parameter basis and theoretical foundation to the design and manufacture of resonator.Firstly, based on finite element analysis software ANSYS, the finite element model of the hemispherical shell resonator is established. After the analysis of HRG's whole mechanical performance, we know that every parameter's effect to the HRG's total mechanical property, just called the maximum stress of inner stretch and the maximum compression stress, and the variable curves about these are extracted. On the premise of requirement of mechanical property, the shape parameters are optimized with the purpose of lightest weight, and got the best ones.Secondly, the natural frequency and the mode of the above resonator are calculated based on the model response analysis, and the influence of the parameters on natural frequency and procession rate is analyzed. On the basis of the analyses of vibration features of the resonator, the above best parameters are modified for better vibration feature. Based on the harmonic response analysis, the influence of the frequencies on the maximum displacement of nodes are analysis.Finally, the stress intensity factor and the cumulative fatigue usage are calculated. Based on fatigue analysis software MSC-fatigue, the influences of the shape parameters on the hemispherical shell resonator's fatigue life and initial crack growth in running conditions are analyzed.
