With the development of transportation construction and economic power of our country, correlation departments take high regards of the preventive maintenance of highway for increasing useful life. The preventive maintenance technology is quite developed in West developed countries. For decreasing the cost of highway maintenance and increasing the economic benefit, quite a lot of countries are developing the preventive maintenance technology. Preventive maintenance is developing very fast though late, and the technology of materials design and construction has reach the level of developed countries.My study is based on the preventive maintenance study in Heilongjiang, and using quite a lot of slurry seal maintenance data collecting from Heilongjiang and Jilin. Rely on the analysis of data, with the maintenance of slurry seal as example, discuss about the application condition of the preventive maintenance, then get the relation between strength and breakage and the application condition of the preventive maintenance.Combine the economic analysis principle and characteristics of the preventive maintenance, sum up the principle that economic benefit evaluation of the preventive maintenance and the cost type of cases compare should satisfy. It is the principle contacted with the performance of pavement and convenient for calculation. With this principle, choose adaptive cost type, give corresponding model of cost calculation, and get the valuable cost calculation frame of the preventive maintenance.Because the preventive maintenance isn't applicable for any conditions, if the maintenance timing is not suitable, it will waste the cost bankroll while short of expectant effect. Nowadays in our country, the practice of the preventive maintenance is on the experience level without any suitable and scientific evaluation methods. Based on the analysis of research in-country and out-country, with the presupposition satisfying the application of the preventive maintenance used the method of benefit cost ratio to resolve the problem to choose the opportunity timing of the preventive maintenance. Using area of benefit of the preventive maintenance, resolved the problem of index choosing, proportion distributing, and benefit area calculating in the calculation procedure of the preventive maintenance, and the problem of adequacy accepting level and the problem of model disintegration, then, set up the benefit cost ratio calculation model of the opportunity timing of the preventive maintenance, while confirm the opportunity project is the preventive maintenance project with largest benefit cost ratio. Using the slurry seal maintenance section in Jilin as example, confirm the validity of the method to resolve the opportunity maintenance timing choosing of the preventive maintenance, and settle up the foundation of the suitable and scientific methods of the preventive maintenance.
