The conformation of urban keeps evolving in all ages, from inexistence to existence, from smallness to hugeness, from simplicity to complexity, from junior to senior. Searching into this evolution, we can find millions of reasons that drive the urban to change its own conformation. But the most essential and basic driving power is human beings'activities, especially various alteration of economic activities which make urban evolve.This text reviews along human history's development, and develops ratiocinates from logic. It indicates that people use resource of nature to keep themselves alive and developed through some economic activities. From ancientry to nowadays people population keeps increasing, but the area of land and quantity of resource exist limitation which makes people have to keep changing themselves and ways of they using nature continuously. In other words, transfer their economic mode to maintain their existence. Economic mode of human being experiences several phases, such as agriculture economy, industry economy, the third industry economy, etc. Different economy modes can feed different quantities of population. The bigger the population is the more senior and complex economic ways are needed. So, city, as a main production material and the special carrier of economic activities, evolves accordingly to conformation of itself.According to this theory, this text explains the inevitability of the phenomenon of urban overspreading and village in urban, and evaluates them through the opposite aspects.
